Filming Price Tag

In the studio I learnt that music videos are made by shooting a video with a camera, music playing in the background and the person in the video lip synching.  I took on the role as the person lip synching, the director and the person in charge of the music. I learnt that while lip synching the person has to be careful to follow the rhythm of the music precisely. I also learnt that while using the tracking shot you could move in any direction e.g. in a straight line, in a round circle. I enjoyed going on the tracking shot because it was a new experience for me as we didn’t go in that depth when shooting our prelim for the thriller. I also enjoyed lip synching as it was a fun experience, it seemed ridiculous at first but worked perfectly while we were editing it. I feel like I’ve learnt an additional lot from shooting the music video. Things such as lip synching were one of the things I didn’t know about until I shot the music video I learnt more things while being a director when shooting a music video such as. I wasn’t really fund about the lip syncing at first as when I was in the spotlight I felt uncomfortable and ridiculous singing along to the music silently and performing as well.  I also thought shooting music videos were a little more complicated as the lip synching and the loud music playing in the background had to be precise.

In the edit suit I was in a team of three so we all took individual chances in editing but we decided on the different shots to use all together. I took on the role of doing most of the editing. I also learnt a new technique of editing, which is if you cut the selected clips right at the beginning of the song and drag the actual track of the song everything would automatically be in synch and you could easily edit it from there. This was not only easier but a more organised way of editing. This added to the things I already knew from the previous thriller editing such as creating a bin and how to label the clips etc. However I found that because everything had to be in synch, once I is out of place it destroys the whole thing. This made it more complicated for my group as we kept making mistakes e,g, dragging the selected clips forward and back.

We used fast pace cutting in the beginning and slow pace cutting in the middle just to create an interesting type of video to watch.
